GUITAR LESSONS
I'love teaching guitar! I've been teaching for 5 years. I try to inspire students with a passion for music, as well as providing a basis in theory and ear training. My students range in age from 6 years to adult. I recently graduated with an Associate of Music on guitar. I live in the Capitol Hill/Central District area in Seattle, where I teach 3 days a week. I also teach one day a week at Guitar Emporium in Ballard.
If you plan to buy a guitar for a child, I hope you'll read Acoustic Guitars for Children before you go shopping.
Please feel free to Contact Me if you have any questions.
Children's Lessons
For children younger than 12, I recommend a 30 minute lesson. I try to choose fun approaches to learning including ear training and rhythm games. I usually give some simple homework; it helps if the parents encourage young students to practice at home.
Adult/Teen Lessons
For adults and teens I recommend a full hour lesson. I encourage you to bring CDs so I can teach you how to play your favorite music. I can usually figure our your song by ear or find some tabs on the internet and help you work through them.
I'm always expanding my repertoire. Right now I'm working on John Mayer's "Why Georgia", Metallica's "Fade to Black", "Never Goin' Back Again" by Fleetwood Mac, several Sarah McLachlan songs and a classical piece, "Malaguena". Other songs I've taught include: Iron and Wine, Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, Ani di Franco, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Steve Goodman, John Mayer, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Cat Stevens, Bill Withers, Sheryl Crow, Michelle Shocked, Sarah McLachlan, The Indigo Girls, Gillian Welch, The Carter Family, The Eagles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kansas, Yes, and many others, as well as plenty of traditional folk and blues standards.
Charlotte has five years of teaching experience, holds an Associate of Music degree, and has played professionally as a singer/songwriter/guitarist in and around Seattle, and elsewhere in Washington, Montana and Oregon. She has been a guest of the Seattle Folklore Society, Northwest Folklife Festival, Bumbershoot Arts Festival, The Pike Place Market Busker's Festival, Seattle Hempfest, the Fremont Fair and the Spokane Fall Folk Festival.
